I swear this is every 3rd post on this page!

  2. It’s crab grass. I pull it when it pops up in my lawn.

Try salt water. But you’ll need 12-24 months before replanting /s

This isn’t crab grass, it’s panic veld.

Often mistaken for crab grass. It’s been popping up in the northeast more recently as it’s been put in the contractors blend of Scotts. Unsure if you’re in the northeast but it’s been abundant this year.

Edit: I also want to include Google searches about this stuff will likely give you the wrong information except maybe it’s removal. This is not a native weed/grass. I believe it’s classification in Africa is a grass.

I’ve a ton of this as well. I’m looking to till the whole yard and start fresh.

It’s the never ending grass weed! Spreads like crazy.

I have a ton of this mixed with st Augustine and I just let it ride because it basically looks like st Augustine

I used Quinclorac. It was the granule mix in water stuff. Tablespoon per gallon. If it’s what I had….
Showed my boss a pic of my back yard and he said it was “quack grass”. Looked similar to this, it took over 80% of the back and a good 30% of the front. Started spreading into my neighbors yard.

Anyway, the quinclorac wiped it all out, sprayed the entire lawn. It just kills the bad stuff.

Ortho concentrate (for lawns) hooked to hose will get rid of.

I identified it as African. This doesn’t die over the winter like crabgrass. This stuff spreads like centipede by ryzomes. Crabgrass dies, then comes back from seed.

That’s a shadow – you just need to move a little, goes away on its own. /s

  12. I’m in Illinois and have had great success killing/preventing this year using the round up spray for lawns that attaches to your hose. About $20 from Home Depot and it prevents for 3 months. Just put down second application of the year and it has worked great.

  13. The shadows? Go out at night they won’t bug you then.

Omg I have this everywhere after using Scott’s. I could not figure out why my grass looks like limes but after I read the comments, ig it makes sense. I like it tho 🙊

Have this stuff in my new sod that grew well considering the time it was laid. Nutsedge too, I’m in DFW. 😕

I’m not sure if it’s crab grass but here’s my favorite gif.

Ughh this has exploded in my yard in the last couple of weeks, as if i wasnt having enough problems with my lawn haha

Then it wasn’t quack grass – it was probably crabgrass if quinclorac wiped it out

  19. This post has helped me a lot. Thought crab grass was growing more rampant this year. Turns out, it was whatever was in that bag of grass seed.

I think it’s Paspalum. Use Tenacity spray on it. Should be gone in a couple weeks. Will turn white and die off.
